The opportunity
The enterprise reporting environment was running on SQL Server 2008 R2. I identified the need to modernize the platform and developed a formal business case recommending an upgrade to provide a more current and sustainable foundation for reporting, ETL, and analytical workloads.
My contribution
- Evaluated the need to modernize the legacy SQL Server environment.

Outcome
Leadership approved the recommendation, and the organization subsequently upgraded the environment from SQL Server 2008 R2 to SQL Server 2017.
What I can document today
I no longer have the original business-case file, so I do not publish unsupported ROI figures or detailed migration assumptions. The defensible outcome is the decision itself: I researched the need, built and presented the recommendation, and the business proceeded with the upgrade.
